Equanimity AI Expands Clinical Advisory Board
Equanimity AI announces the expansion of its Clinical Advisory Board to support the clinical evolution of Beacon, an AI-driven operating system designed to help pain clinics operationalize the biopsychosocial model through continuous, longitudinal patient insight.

Beacon is built to address a core limitation in pain care. Most clinical decisions are still based on episodic visits and fragmented data, almost entirely based on subjective patient reporting. Beacon organizes continuous patient-reported outcomes, voice-based markers, wearable signals, and daily experience into interpretable trajectories across physical, emotional, behavioral, and sleep domains. The goal is simple: make longitudinal patient data clinically useful without adding burden to care teams.

Clinical leadership
Dr. William Rosenberg is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in complex pain and neuromodulation, with decades of clinical experience treating patients with refractory pain. He has held leadership roles across clinical practice, research, and education, and is widely recognized for his work at the intersection of interventional pain, neurosurgery, and longitudinal patient care.
Dr. Rosenberg leads Equanimity AI’s Clinical Advisory Board and serves as the company’s Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he guides the clinical strategy, validation approach, and real-world deployment of Beacon across diverse pain care settings. “Pain care has been practiced inside fifteen-minute visits, even though pain itself is continuous. The problem was never the biopsychosocial model. It was the lack of an operating system capable of holding biology, behavior, and lived experience together over time. Beacon is that system. It turns time into clinical information.” Rosenberg said.

Expanded Clinical Advisory Board
The expanded Clinical Advisory Board brings together leaders across pain care, neuromodulation, and academic medicine. Each advisor contributes direct clinical and research expertise to ensure Beacon remains grounded in real-world practice and rigorous evidence.

Hemant Kalia MD MPH FIPP FAAPMR
Dr. Hemant Kalia is Founder and CEO of Savya Neuroscience Institute and C.R.I.S.P. and serves as Vice President of Reimbursement and Regulatory Affairs for ASPN. His work focuses on advanced neuromodulation, cancer pain, peripheral nerve stimulation, and targeted drug delivery, with a particular emphasis on linking longitudinal functional outcomes to reimbursement and access to care. On the advisory board, Dr. Kalia guides how Beacon can bridge the gap between real-world clinical outcomes and payer evidence requirements.

Dr. Erika Petersen, MD, FAANS, FACS
Dr. Erika Petersen is Professor and Director of Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She led the pivotal SENZA-PDN trial, establishing the long-term durability of high-frequency spinal cord stimulation for painful diabetic neuropathy, and has held national leadership roles advancing neuromodulation research and clinical adoption. Dr. Petersen contributes expertise in translating continuous behavioral and physiological data into personalized, data-driven neuromodulation strategies that evolve with patients over time.
Lawrence R. Poree MD MPH PhD
Dr. Lawrence Poree is Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco and Director of Neuromodulation Services in the Department of Anesthesia. He serves as President of the Institute of Neuromodulation, Secretary of the International Neuromodulation Society, and co-founder of the NANS Diversity and Outreach Committee. Dr. Poree brings a research-focused perspective on long-term neuromodulation outcomes, including medication interactions and device longevity, helping guide Beacon’s role in prospective, longitudinal evaluation.

What the Advisory Board will guide
The Clinical Advisory Board plays a central role in shaping Beacon’s clinical direction, with a focus on:

-
Defining outcomes that matter to clinicians and patients in real practice
-
Ensuring Beacon integrates into daily workflows without added friction
-
Guiding validation strategies that reflect the expectations of clinicians, health systems, and industry partners
-
Translating continuous, multimodal patient signals into interpretable clinical insight over time
-

Together, the board supports Equanimity AI’s mission to move pain care beyond episodic assessment toward continuous, clinically grounded understanding.
